Print Methods – What’s the difference?Flat Print: Flat print, also referred to as digital printing, is typically the least expensive printing method. It is perfect for capturing detail and for printing colorful designs, achieving a smooth, one dimensional finish. Flat print can be used on both thin and thick paper. Letterpress: Letterpress is just that – the letters are pressed into the paper. The text and artwork are turned into raised plates that are then painted and stamped onto the paper one by one. The resulting look is as though the letters have been indented into the paper. It has a beautiful handmade quality that makes it feel special and unique. This method is very labor intensive (each color has to be hand mixed and pressed separately), and requires paper of a particular thickness and quality, so it tends to be more expensive. Fun Fact: This is Carolyn’s favorite method! It’s also the oldest printing method and has been used since the 1400’s! Foil: Foil stamping works similarly to letterpress but uses foil instead of ink. The text and artwork are turned into raised plates and the design is transferred onto the paper using pressure, heat, and special sheets of foil. This method is used for a shiny or metallic finish.

Wish you could add a symbol or put your name in the corner of your stationery instead of at the top? All you need to do is ask! While custom illustrations and artwork may cost extra, many customizations are free of charge. Gift Tags & Enclosures: Love a design but wish it said “Merry Everything!” instead of “Happy Holidays”?
